Work continues apace on the development of proposals for a play area in the village. After the clear steer that was provided by residents in the Parish Plan village questionnaire, the Parish Council have been working hard to determine a suitable location and prepare designs for a further round of consultation with villages this summer at the annual village festival.

As you may have read in the March Parish Council minutes; following consultation with both residents who front Fordham Heath and statutory consultee’s like Colchester Borough Council and Essex Wildlife Trust, it was determined that the most suitable location for a new play area was on the area of the heath between the cricket pitch and Heath Road.

Following on from this decision, two companies were commissioned to produce in principal designs. These designs can now be viewed on our website and it is anticipated that these will be displayed at the annual village festival so that residents can input into the designs. The first design is shown at the bottom of this page from a company called HAGS & the second design can be viewed here from Playquip.

Also available on the website is a questionnaire seeking views on the proposals so that we can choose a preferred designer and proceed with developing a more detailed proposal. These questionnaires can either be printed and posted to our Parish Clark, Mrs Amy Harness 182 Axial Drive, Colchester, Essex CO4 5RY or scanned and emailed to amy.harness@eightashgreen.com.

Once feedback and comment has been gathered and collated, the Parish Council will then be in a position to make a formal application to the Secretary of State to site the equipment on the common land of the heath and this will allow a further opportunity for people to express their views before a final decision is taken by an independent government appointed inspector.
